Withdrawal of western companies from the Union State market opens new opportunities for cooperation between Belarus and Russia.

This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with Governor of Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko. A delegation of this Russian region is visiting Minsk. The trade turnover with it is growing. Today, we are talking about 700 million dollars. New areas of cooperation are increasing. Belarus' interest in the region is also stipulated by its access to the sea: our companies are already participating in large projects on port infrastructure development in Ust-Luga.

Belarus and the Leningrad Region have long-standing relations. Governor Drozdenko's current visit is designed to intensify trade and cooperation even more. The Russian delegation will visit a number of enterprises, hold negotiations in the government, and participate in a meeting of the commission for the development of bilateral cooperation.
