Activation and strengthening of regional cooperation with Omsk and Pskov. President meets with Russian governors

Belarus and Russia are working on regional cooperation. This was agreed upon by Presidents Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin. The Belarusian leader held meetings with two heads of Russian regions at once today. The governors, together with delegations from various regions, arrived in Minsk for the Forum of Regions. Expanding cooperation was discussed with the head of Pskov Region. Transport, food supplies, interaction in education don't limit the list of promising areas. The Presidents of Belarus and Russia agreed to intensify cooperation between the regions.

The Pskov delegation has been in Belarus for several days. They are interested in the supply of passenger transport and Belarusian experience in the agro-industrial complex. They visited the agricultural settlement Mazolovo. They want to use it as an example of the country life. The interests of the regions converge in the field of construction. Belarusian general contractors have already taken part in the construction of the largest school in Pskov. As for the educational sphere, Belarus will help to prepare medical personnel for this Russian region.

Belarus is also ready to work with Omsk Region. Given the potential of the region, Omsk is a large industrial center of Siberia, the economic result can be significant.

A. Lukashenko sees the potential for increasing the trade turnover with Omsk Region up to $100 million. More than 6 000 of our people live there. Such human connections are a good basis for promoting cooperation. Belarus has a lot of resources to meet the request of Omsk Region for the entire range of equipment. Belarusians are ready to join the program for the development of agriculture in this Siberian region. Working on Sakhalin in the agro-industrial complex can be a showcase of our capabilities. In addition to this, our specialists can participate in infrastructure and housing projects. Industrial cooperation is considered promising.
