A. Lukashenko addresses development of consumer cooperative system in Belarus

The assortment and services in agro-towns should not differ from those in the capital; it is important to maintain high quality approach. Today there was a detailed discussion of the development of the consumer cooperative system in the country. The head of state took part in the meeting. 

Alexander Lukashenko instructed the Belarusian Cooperation Union and its new chairman Oleg Matskevich to improve the quality level and remain loyal to the main goal, which the benefit of people. The task is to increase the depth of processing of the purchased products up to 90% by 2025. The head of state advised to develop its own industries, as it is a serious reserve for building the domestic economy and getting additional profits. Alexander Lukashenko also supported the proposal to lease equipment. 


President demands control of prices in rural stores


The task of the new leadership, the President said, is to organize this process efficiently.    Today the Belarusian Cooperation Union has about 130 modern storage facilities. It is necessary to continue the reconstruction and modernization of the remaining facilities.  The President is convinced that the Belarusians will not understand if they are forced to buy imported products at world prices. Therefore, stabilization funds are one of the key tasks. The unjustified growth, especially for socially important goods is unacceptable.

The President proposed to develop the segment of e-commerce.  A particular attention is also paid to the development of exports. The dynamics is not bad, up to 20% of the harvested products goes to foreign markets, though mostly to Russia. We need to improve trade with the CIS countries and China. Alexander Lukashenko demanded to prevent violations in the work of rural stores.  Negligence and sale of stale products must be avoided. It is important to listen to the feedback of the ordinary Belarusians. Special attention should be paid to unprofitable enterprises.  The new head of the consumer cooperative society will study their business plans. The government must get involved in solving all the problems of consumer societies.
