In an interview to the Respublika newspaper, Chairman of Russia’s National Dairy Producers Union Andrei Danilenko said that Russia should adopt Belarus’ experience in dairy farming development. He admitted that Belarusian products successfully withstood competition in foreign markets due to comprehensive state support provided to farmers.

The National Dairy Producers Union Chairman supported the idea of establishing a supranational association of dairy producers to help prevent conflicts of interest among the Customs Union member countries without taking them to the level of ministries or governments.

According to Danilenko, Russia can not fully provide itself with raw materials and finished products today. The deficit is estimated at 7 million tons of milk per year. About 80% of this amount is provided by Belarusian producers.
