Belarus and Uzbekistan are ready to set up joint ventures. The spacious Eastern market needs machinery, urban transport and IT solutions in different spheres. The Belarusian governmental delegation made a great number of proposals. The willingness to build long-term cooperation was confirmed at the meeting with the President of Uzbekistan.
Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of Belarus:
The purpose of our work here is to find new points where both countries could gain new added value. We can already say that this is not just a country with a large market, with a large population. But it is a fast, dynamic industrialized state. So we can already talk about a full-fledged technological partnership. And everything that we talked about today mainly concerns the implementation of joint short-term industrial projects. Take electric transport, for example. There is a need for it, but every country, wants to have its share of any product and Uzbekistan is not an exception. Therefore we discuss cooperation on electric transport, where our Uzbek partners would be responsible for the power plant and the energy part and the Belarusians would be responsible for the mechanical part. The same applies to a number of other projects. So this is probably a new highlight that we will be working on in the very near future.
The Belarusian machinery, which is already working in the fields of Uzbekistan, was presented at Innoprom exhibition. We also brought new products hoping to increase sales in the eastern market and promote them to the neighboring countries.
