Representative of Belarus at Eurovision-2019 to perform in 1st semi-final

The official representative of our country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 will perform in the first part of the first semifinal, which will be held in Tel Aviv (Israel) on May 14.

The draw for the participating countries in the two semifinals of the competition was held today, January 28.

In total 42 countries will take part in the competition this year. It was determined that in the first semi-final on May 14 and in the second semi-final on May 16, 18 countries will perform.

Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Montenegro, Cyprus, Serbia, Finland, Poland, Hungary, Estonia, Portugal, San Marino, Iceland, Georgia, Australia, Belgium, Ukraine, Greece will perform and vote in the first semifinal together with a representative of Belarus.

The countries of the big five: Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Great Britain - and the organizer of this year’s competition Israel qualify for the final on May 18 automatically, but they will also broadcast the semifinals and vote for the participants. Spain, France and Israel will evaluate the contestants of the first semi-final, and Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom – of the second semi-final.

The sequence numbers of the participants of both semi-finals will be determined later by the decision of the producers of the show. Such a system for distributing contestants in the semifinals has been operating for several years and allows the organizers to make the show spectacular and unique.

Meanwhile, Belteleradiocompany continues accepting applications for participation in the national qualifying round of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Less than a week after the announcement of the selection, the media holding has already received 31 applications from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. As a rule, the largest number of applications comes in the last days of admission, but some participants of the selections of previous years have already joined the competitive race. Among them are Angelica Pushnova, Michael Soul (Mikhail Sosunov) and the group PRO-vocation.

The deadline for applications is January 31, 2019. Artists need to submit their applications electronically on the organizer's website www.tvr.by.

On February 4, there will be an audition of all applicants, and the focus group will sum up the results of the qualifying round. By a simple majority of votes, ten performers will be selected to participate in the final. The number of participants selected for the final may be changed by the decision of the organizer at the suggestion of the focus group. During the audition online broadcast will be carried out on the website of Belteleradiocompany www.tvr.by.

The final will be held no later than March 8, 2019 in the format of a live show.
