Radio station Belarus launched to the Web

The Internet channel of radio station “Belarus”, broadcasting in English, appeared in the Web on January 3, 2005. The director of Foreign Broadcast Department of the Belarusian Radio (radio station “Belarus”) Naum Galperovich announced that soon the station will be broadcasting in the Web 10 hours a day. At the moment the on-line English programs of radio station “Belarus” can be heard on the official site of Belteleradiocompany www.tvr.by from 15:00 through 20:00 LT.
Naum Galperovich sees the principal objective of the radio station in all-out and true coverage of the life of the country, its politics, economy, sport events and youth policy.
In the year of the 60th anniversary of Great Victory a high priority will be given to the projects, covering the contribution of the Belarusian people and members of anti-Hitler coalition to the defeat of the fascism. Every day the station devotes some of its air to the theme of the Great Patriotic War. Such projects as “60 Years to our Common Victory”, “Memory Days” were welcomed by the audience of radio station “Belarus” and a great number of letters, coming from different parts of the globe, are a good evidence of it.
Many foreign listeners are interested in music programs, presenting songs of the Belarusian performers. The air of the Web channel completely caters to the demands and tastes of foreign listeners.
When the Internet broadcast began, the radio station “Belarus” launched a number of new projects. Among them are such programs as "International Revue", "Postcard from Belarus", "From History of Belarusian Statehood", "Space of Existence", "Youth Format" and "Security Problems".
According to the Director of Belteleradiocompany’s Internet Division Irina Polozhentseva, more than 8,500 people visited “Belarus” from January 3 through February 23, 2005.
The expansion of the broadcast of radio station “Belarus” became possible due to the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Committee of Religious and Ethnic Minorities at the Belarusian Council of Ministers.
The deputy head of the MFA PR department Ruslan Yesin pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs keeps a regular monitoring of the radio’s broadcast in foreign states and holds presentations of its programs.
According to the head of electronic media department at the Belarusian Ministry of Information Alexander Karachun the appearance of radio station “Belarus” in the Internet became a breakthrough of the nation on its way to the integration into the global informational space.
