The meeting in Athens also approved a new procedure for announcing points scored during the voting, i.e. hosts of contest broadcasters in each country shall only name 8, 10 and 12’s, whereas 1-7’s will be automatically added to the table. However the last three countries will announce points scored in full. Based on the draw, Belarus will be 26th to announce the results.
The meeting also decided to give Serbia and Montenegro the right to vote, even though it will have no contestant in Eurovision’2006. The country will also pay a full fee for the participation in the contest. Serbia’s spot in the final was transferred to Croatia.
The Eurovision’2007 format will be changed: only 10 countries will qualify automatically to the next-year contest, 14 countries will advance to the final from the semifinal. The final will be limited to the maximum of 30 performers.
At the meeting in Athens, the Belarusian delegation presented to the organizing committee of Eurovision’2006 a package of documents required for participation of Belarusian contestant Polina Smolova in the contest.
