The most popular radio channel in Belarus is the First National Channel of the Belarusian Radio. Its objective is to provide listeners with interesting information about major political, social, economic and cultural events in Belarus and the globe.
One of the most important projects of the new season is the program “Accents”- a radio round table for political analysts, economists, sociologists, who discuss the most relevant domestic and foreign issues. At the moment a high priority is given to the Program of social and economic development of Belarus for 2006-2010. The program will also present the results of listeners’ polls and opinions of Internet users.
The project "Radio.by” gained a wide popularity last year. The program will be broadcasted on Friday and re-run on Saturday. The program “Feedback” will be promoting various TV and radio programs, produced by Belteleradiocompany. Information about new projects, interviews with the authors, reviews of the audience’s letters is what “Feedback” is about. The theme of the first issues is new season in Belteleradiocompany. New program “Children of Belarus” will be telling about state support to family and children, solution of demographic problems, prevention of social problems in families, mental and spiritual upbringing of the youth.
The program “Morning with the Belarusian Radio” is turned into a daily morning news block with such features as “Special Report”, “Press Express” (analysis of foreign media), “News of Culture”, “Folk Calendar” and “Weather Forecast”. The daily reviews “Reading Press” will become longer and more frequent. The analysis of paper articles, featuring interviews with the authors, interesting facts and stories, will be aired twice a day. Another project, involving printed editions, is called “Live Call-In” (talks with competent people, journalists of radio and TV).
At the request of the audience the runtime of such programs “Belarus-Russia: facets of Union State Development”) and “Remember your Name” was extended.
Specialized projects “Morning in the Village”, “Belarusian Village. Time for Revival”, etc. will focus on the progress of implementing the State Rural Revival and Development Program.
“Legal Channel” and “Security Formula” will be devoted to public security and discipline enhancement measures.
“Open Platform”, “Choosing Life” and “Land of Talents” will cover youth policy, patriotic education of the younger generation.
Literary programs in the new season will be represented by the following projects: “Native Language”, “Literary Avenue”, “Literary Map of Belarus”, “Diariush”, “Reflections”. Theatrical art and life will be covered by “Muse”, “Theatersphere” and a new project “Harmony”.
The First National Channel is recreating the production and drama program “Theater of the Belarusian Radio”. Leading actors of Belarus will be invited to record radio productions. Archive recordings will be heavily used as well.
Sport life will be covered by news shows “Sport News” and analytical programs “In the World of Sport” and “Sport Navigator”. Also we plan to continue with live radio features and broadcasts of largest national and international events.
There will be new musical projects “Night Music”, “Slavonic Tunes”, “Autograph”, etc.
“The Army Mail” will have a longer running time following audience requests. Service people will now have a chance to send personal regards to their relatives via the Belarusian Radio. For this purpose, radio correspondents will visit military units and record soldiers’ dedications.
Radio Station “Belarus” will expand its broadcasting hours by 2 hours a day. The total broadcasting time in the new season will be 17 hours: 7 hours of airtime plus 10 hours of English-language online-casting in a real-time format.
It is planned to expand airtime hours: the German language service up to one hour a day (previously, one day a week), the English language service up to two hours a day (previously, 2 hours 30 minutes a week).
The call signs of the radio station will be available on short and medium waves from 19:00 to 02:00 (00:00 UTC). This is the primetime. Thus, the Belarusian language service will be on from 19:00 to 21:00, the German language service from 21:00 to 22:00, the English language service from 22:00 to 24:00, the Russian language service from 00:00 to 02:00.
Also news editions in the Polish language will be available three times a week.
Russian-language projects “Night Hour with Radio Belarus” (main news, relevant commentaries) and “Military Panorama” (army, development of domestic military-industrial complex, co-operation within the Union State) will appear. Also new English projects will hit the air: “Construction Site” (history, traditions, modern designing and original solutions of Belarusian architects, national housing policy, rural revival plans) and “Private Sector” (private business development, government SME support).
“Culture” radio channel presents 11 new projects in the new season including “Belarusian Notes” (about places of interest in Belarus), “Anthroposphere Resort” (dialogue with scientists of humanitarian direction), “Live Music” (about modern academic music), “Portrait of the Day” (musical show based on historical events of the day), “New Classic” (about classic basis of modern popular music), “Forum” (interactive discussion on cultural themes), “Radiochrestomathy” (radio literature funds), “Morning Guest”.
New show “Retro-hit” will consist of the audience’s requests.
Funds of Belteleradiocompany will be enriched with works broadcasted within the frameworks of such projects as “Literature Anthology”, “Bestseller”, “Master-Class”, “Concert Season”, “All Concerts”, “Live Music”. Besides, the time informational broadcasts at “Culture” radio channel will be increased.
Socio-economic development of the nation in terms of Minsk Region will be among the priorities of “Stolitsa” radio channel in the season of 2006-2007.
Starting the new season a block of five-minute shows will be launched: “Capital Navigator” (survey of exhibitions, concerts, theater shows”, “Events and Personalities” (program about people who have played important role in history of Belarus), “My Profession”, “Defining Dictionary”.
Music broadcasting will be more dynamic. A daily music knowledge contest will be launched within the frameworks of “Moderator’s Hour” show. Amateurs of retro music will be able to listen to a daily hour of “oldies-but-goldies”.
“Prospects” analytical show will contain information about strategy of Minsk development until 2020.
Special feature of the new season at “Radius-FM” station is increased part of news and analytical programs. News blocks will be broadcasted twice an hour. Analytical broadcasting will consist of such shows as “Close Up”, “Week Episodes”, “Summary”, Daily Commentary”.
Morning broadcasting will be filled with useful and exciting information including sport, history, useful cuisine recipes and Internet surveys. Important events in Belarus and outside the nation will be discussed in “Close Up” show.
Joint project of “Radius-FM” and National Center of Legal Information “Business Monday” will be launched.
Issues of youth policy will be reflected in projects “Growing Up Time”, “Hi Tech”, Navigator”. Music part of broadcasting will consist of “Music Hello”, “Midnight Fever” and “Fashion Advisor”. Every hour of broadcasting will be crowned by “An All-Time Hit” show.
