The ensemble introduces listeners to the best examples and little-known pearls of the musical heritage of Belarus, giving them originality and unique character of sounding. 

 

Folk Band Biaseda was established in 1991.

The artistic director of the ensemble of folk music Biaseda is laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus, laureate of the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Workers of Culture and Art, Chevalier of the Order of Francis Skaryna, People's Artist of Belarus, composer Leonid Zakhlevny.

The word Biaseda, translated from the Belarusian language, means an invitation of family and friends to visit family holidays, when folk songs, popular songs of Belarusian authors, as well as dance folk music are performed. Therefore, the repertoire of the ensemble is wide, it consists of Belarusian folk songs of various genres: lyrical and comic, dedicated to family celebrations, folk rites. These songs are an integral part of the spiritual life of the Belarusian people. And such songs as Za Maladych, Marusya, Zapragay-ka, Batska, Koney, Zvinyat Zvonchyki, became widely known not only in our country, but also abroad.

Concert programs of the ensemble are a kind of a song theater with a variety of alternation of choral, instrumental and solo performances, the musical content of which is complemented by the multicolor folk costumes. A distinctive feature of the ensemble is its performing skills, including virtuosity, ensemble coherence, high professionalism.

The ensemble introduces listeners to the best examples and little-known pearls of the musical heritage of Belarus, giving them originality and unique character of sounding.

The major part of the band's repertoire has been arranged or written by artistic director Leonid Zakhlevny and leading musician of the band Nicolay Aleshko. Such songs as Oh, that Polka, music by N. Aleshko, lyrics by V. Petiukevich, Party, music by L. Zakhlevny, lyrics by V. Mazgo, One For the Road, music by A. Balotnik, lyrics by A. Legchilov, have become really popular. Songs dedicated to the war theme occupy special place in the repertoire of the band. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus, Leonid Zakhlevny wrote a cycle of songs based on the words of V. Kovalchuk and M. Yasen (Waltz of 1944, Before the War, Talianka, lyrics by V. Kovalchuk, Oh, Tatiana Fedorovna, Happy Birthday, Victory, lyrics by M. Yasen.

For the creation of this cycle of songs Leonid Zakhlevny was awarded the title of Laureate of the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

The collective is a laureate and participant of many international folklore festivals and celebrations: the Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk, the Festival of Belarusian Song and Poetry (Molodechno), the festival of Belarusian writing, the Dozhinki and others.

Sweden, Korea, Germany, Poland, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the People's Republic of China, Austria, Portugal, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan are the countries where the ensemble successfully represented Belarusian folk songs.
