Belteleradiocompany has become an official partner UEFA’s partner, hence a representative of the First National TV Channel was present at the official drawing and opening ceremony of 2003-2004 season.
The Champions League’s history goes back to two top club tournaments held in Europe: Champions Cup (1956-1992) and Champions League launched in 1993. All the games are divided into two stages - qualifying rounds and group tournament. First National TV Channel will broadcast matches of the group tournament.
32 top clubs of Europe divided into 8 groups compete for the right to play in the play off. 16 best clubs will play two games knock out matches to determine best club of 2003-2004.
In total First National TV Channel will broadcast 25 games. Starting September 16 our channel’s audience will see 2 games a week including 12 matches of the group tournament, 1/8 finals, 1/4 finals, 1/2 finals and the final game.
The first game broadcasted is Glasgow Rangers - Stuttgart (September 16) that was selected because Belarusian Alexander Gleb plays for the German team. On September 17 Dynamo Kiev - Lokomotiv Moscow will cross the swords at the First National. Every week the channel’s audience will be able to vote for the next week’s two matches broadcasted using Belteleradiocompany’s Internet site (www.tvr.by).
On Tuesdays and Wednesdays (these days the games will be broadcasted) the Champions League’s round ups will be on air with matches’ highlights. Besides on Sundays sport amateurs will view special Champions League video magazine.
Providing diverse and qualified commentaries the channel will invite well-known sport reporters, sportsmen. Our aim is to provide each match with good commentaries from people who know, understand and love football, - says Director of Sport Department of the First National TV Channel Boris Gersten.
Champions League is the main but not the only big introduction at the First National. The main TV channel of the nation will also broadcast best matches of Italian Serie A.
