Classmates TV has already been a big hit in 17 countries. In Norway, the show’s average rating was 33% and the average share - 74%. In Denmark, Classmates TV was one of the most popular and watched projects of the last three years (24-25% average rating every season). Moreover, the project copyright owner in Denmark is already advertising on its website that Classmates TV will soon be launched in Belarus.
The show is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch celebrated people engaged in a light persiflage and relaxed conversation with their teachers, classmates and the loved ones.
The plot of the show is as follows: the host invites two famous people to the studio and asks them to reminisce about school, first love, first successes and failures.
The participants of the show will face a number of tests during the program. The first and most formidable task is trying to recognize classmates from among many of the studio sitters. The last task is the final examination. Based on the results of the tests, the best class wins free collective dinner and tickets to a party at the “swingin’est spot in town”.
Classmates TV has been on the drawing board for a year. Mastiff Media and TV2 Denmark sold the rights for the show. The idea of the project originally appeared in Henrik Hancke Nielsen. Under the license agreement, a team of Danish experts from the copyright company came to Minsk in the course of the preparatory period to learn about the Belarusian version of the show. The company possessing the rights for the show was also involved in the host casting. They looked at candidates’ ability to interact with the camera, keep the conversation going and ask questions. An ideal host also has to be full of energy and magnetism. Kirill Sluka, our Classmates TV host, fit the profile to a tee.
Once the preps were completed, production started with the search for classmates. This turned out to be a real problem. Sometimes, there were situations when people were found in Russia, Ukraine and even Germany and traveled from there just to be on the show.
Preparations for the show had the project team carefully study school archives, meet supervising teachers and principals, collect information about schoolmates, their preferences, friends, secrets, dates. It is not always easy to sound people out for such delicate information. For many people, the studio of Classmates TV has become a school reunion they could not find time for otherwise.
A joint team of experts from Belarus, Russia and Denmark was put together to make the show. International cooperation is an accepted practice across the globe as far as such shows are concerned. For example, the set of the studio has been designed by the Danes.
Classmates TV is a perfect blend of game, music and entertainment helping the creators to tell the audience about their guests in a new and unusual way.
