Eurovision Dance for the first time in the air

The first two annual contests will be held in London and after that the show will be hosted by winning countries. The competitions of 2007 will include representatives of 16 states: Austria, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and Ukraine.
The general concept of the show is similar to Eurovision song contest. Only the vocalists here are replaced by dancers. Every pair has to perform two dances. One of them should either in a Latino or European ball-room style. (foxtrot, jive, paso doble, quickstep, rumba, salsa, samba, tango, waltz). The choice of the second dance is free, but a national or ethnic touch will be much appreciated.
The representatives of our country don’t take part in the first Eurovision Dance Contest. Russia will be represented by the winners of the show Dancing with Celebrities a TV host Maria Sittel and professional dancer Vladislav Borodinov.
According to the terms of the contest, only the audience of participating countries can vote for the dancers. The vote will take place according to the pattern of Junior Eurovision. Calls and SMS messages are accepted from the very first minutes of the show and the vote will be over over after the episodes of dances of all contestants are shown. Every participating state will announce its points to the performers from 1 through 12.
The show will be hosted by Graham Norton, one of the most popular British TV presenters, a former host of Strictly Dance Fever and Claudia Winkleman, a host of Strictly Come Dancing.
The live broadcast of the European Dance Contest will be commented by the host of the program “Good morning, Belarus” (The First Channel) and author of the project “Everybody Dance” (LAD) Dmitry Karas. He will be helped by IDSF judge at the championships of Europe and the world, member of the Belarusian Federation of Dancing Sport Vladimir Parakhnevich.
“This will be a spectacular show”, says Dmitry Karas. “Costumes of Great beauty, original choreography and luxurious scenery. I saw several contestants dance at the selection rounds and was impressed by the spellbinding energy coming from them. At these last days before the contest they put all their strength and time into the rehearsals”.
The live broadcast of Eurovision Dance Contest from London will start on the First Channel at 22:00 on September 1.
