“These people were born here, in our multinational state, where for many centuries such typical traits of the Belarusian people as tolerance, readiness to cooperate and agree with our peoples and states, respect for their culture and traditions have been developing, - creator Oleg Lukashevich says. - They all worked diligently to bring glory to Belarus. Vitebsk earned international recognition as a place where Mark Chagal worked. Efrosinya of Polotsk told about Polotsk in far-off Jerusalem, etc. These people had different fates; not always were they appreciated and valued in their homeland. In spite of everything, they had never forgotten their native home. Our idea is to show something new and unknown about their life”.
The first in a four-episode series of The Epoch will be devoted to Mark Chagal, no doubt, one of the most prominent artists the world over. But there were a few white spots that had to be filled by the Epoch crew. The American period of the artist’s life happened to be the least studied. The creators of the documentary were able to locate the house where Chagal stayed in the U.S. and find several “material witnesses” of the epoch.
Watch the first series of the new project Epoch created by Oleg Lukashevich from January 16 to 19 at 22:50 on the First National TV Channel.
