Belteleradiocompany starts national selection round of Junior Eurovision-2018

The main media holding of the country announced the start of accepting applications for participation in the national qualifying round of Junior Eurovision-2018, which will be held on November 25 in Minsk (Belarus).

The organizer of the national qualifying round is Belteleradiocompany. The selection is carried out in accordance with the regulations developed by the organizer and the rules of the competition established by the European Broadcasting Union.

This year, all applicants whose applications meet the following requirements will be admitted to the auditions:

- young performers who, on the date of the international competition, are at least 9 and not more than 14 years old, are citizens of the Republic of Belarus, or foreign citizens, or stateless persons permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Belarus for at least two and a half years, can take part in the contest;

- a song consisting of poems in Belarusian and (or) Russian with inserts in a foreign language (but not more than 40% of the text) and music that have not been commercially sold, as well as performed publicly or partially before May 1, 2018, can be presented at the contest.

- The Project participant must be the only owner of the music and the lyrics of the song or have a joint ownership of the music and lyrics, if the Project involves a group of creators.

The last day of accepting applications is June 29, 2018.

The results of the qualifying round will be summed up by the professional jury not later than July 7, 2018. Following the results of the qualifying round the professional jury will select from seven to ten to participants of the Project final.

The final in the form of a gala concert will be held no later than September 15, 2018. The representative of Belarus will be chosen to participate in the 16th international song forum following the voting of the audience and the professional jury.

Belarus has been participating in the international Junior Eurovision song contest since its foundation in 2003. Our country has two victories: in 2005 the competition was won by Ksenia Sitnik with the song "We are Together", and in 2007 by Alexey Zhigalkovich with the song "With Friends". In 2017, Helena Meraai with the song "I am the One" took the 5th place.

This year Minsk will host the music forum for the second time. The final of the Junior Eurovision-2018 will be held on November 25 in the sports and entertainment complex Minsk-Arena.
