Belteleradiocompany has started accepting applications for participating in the national selection for the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place on November 26 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Belteleradiocompany has started accepting applications for participating in the national selection for the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place on November 26 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The national selection is organized by the country’s major media company. The selection is carried out in accordance with the provisions set up by the organizer and the contest rules laid down by the European Broadcasting Union.

To be admitted to this year’s auditions, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

- the contestant must be aged 9-14 years as of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest day and be a citizen of the Republic of Belarus or a foreign citizen/stateless person permanently residing in the Republic of Belarus for at least 2.5 years;

- the contest song lyrics should be written in the Belarusian and/or Russian languages. If a foreign language is used, it should not exceed 40% of the lyrics. The music should not be previously commercially released and performed publicly until May 1, 2017;

- the selection participant (or their legal representative in case the participant has not reached the age of 14 years) must be the sole copyright owner of the song or have the right of joint ownership of the song, if a group of performers participates in the selection;

To participate in the selection round, the application marked “For the Junior Eurovision Contest 2017” must be sent as an insured parcel to 220807, Minsk, ul. Makaenka, 9.

The deadline for sending applications is June 30, 2017.

The regulations on the national selection for the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest are available on Belteleradiocompany’s official website www.tvr.by in the Projects section.

Following the national selection results to be announced no later than July 7, 2017, a professional jury will select seven to ten contenders for the finals, which be held not later than September 16, 2017 as a gala concert.

The national selection winner to represent Belarus at the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be selected by the votes of the professional jury and TV viewers.

All rights relating to the selection process belong exclusively to Belteleradiocompany as the organizer.

Both the national selection and the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will traditionally be broadcast by the Belarus 1 TV channel.

Belarus has been participating in Junior Eurovision since its inception in 2003, the first Belarusian participant being Olga Satsyuk. In 2005, the contest was won by Belarusian Ksenia Sitnik with the song We Are Together; in 2007, the contest winner was Alexei Zhigalkovich with the song With Friends. Last year, Belarus’ Alexander Minenok took the 7th place with the song Music of My Victories.
