Press release

The channel broadcasts on the medium frequency 1125 kHz and ultra-short frequency 70.4 MHz.
The Day is meant to stimulate the European broadcasting organizations to show the variety of cultures, existing on the continent. The stations, which will partake in the project, are going to make programs about European integration since the idea of common Europe presupposes understanding of other cultures.
"From Cultural commonwealth to common European home". This is the motto the Belteleradiocompany's channel "Culture" will promote on October 12. The informational program "Fragments" (on air from 09.30 through 11.00) will tell about the pioneers of European integration: Aristides, Winston Churchill, Konrad Adenauer, Charles de Gaulle and all European institutions including the Council of Europe and Europarliament. At 14.10 "Home Philharmonic" will tell about the influence of the Belarusian school on European classic music. At 16.10 "Gents" will tell about Vasil Bykov, whose military prose is a part of not only Belarusian, but also of the European literature.
Furthermore, the audience of the channel "Culture" will be able to enjoy the radio play "King Lear" after W. Shakespeare and "Pippi Longstocking" after Astrid Lindgren. They will be followed by radio sketches about Mozart and Edith Piaf.
During the whole day the journalists will maintain a call-up with their colleagues from Sweden, Germany and Latvia. A concert of European performers will crown the event.
You can learn about the program of the channel "Culture" as well as the program so other broadcasting stations from the organizers' site www.prix-europa.de.
The scale and variety of European culture are evident, when one isn’t limited by the dominants of national and regional culture, say the organizers of the Radio Day. Tune to the radio channel "Culture" October 12 and join the All-European movement.
