In an interview in Minsk, Andre said he would sing “Without Your Love” at the contest. “This song was written by Armenian lyricists Armen Martirosyan and Katrin Bekiyan. It is about the eternal and true love”. Although he is going to sing in English, the song will not lose its Armenian flavor. Andre will have the first number in the semifinal. “I was shocked the first three minutes I heard I was gonna sing the first. But then I decided the number, be it one or 13, does not matter: the idea is to sing as best as you can!”. “Participating in Eurovision is very important for my career. My country takes part in it for the first time therefore I will do my best to represent Armenia worthily,” said Andre.
During his visit to Minsk, Andre met his Belarusian counterpart Polina Smolova. Andre said that “Polina has a very interesting “modern” style”, it is “new, fresh and interesting”.
Fabricio Faniello was a bit luckier: last year Malta won the second place advancing him straight to the final. Fabricio already took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001 where he finished the ninth. “Of course, I am counting on a victory this time. I love this contest and all of its fans. I owe it to Eurovision’2001 for becoming the first Maltese singer to start a successful career in Europe. This time I intend to do twice as good”, said the singer. His song will be called "I Do". He wrote it with another artist after breaking up with his girlfriend. This is a “modern, up tempo and engaging story of one-way love”.
“Eurovision is a good chance for any artist to establish oneself firmly in the eyes of the world audience. Every year it is watched by about 400 million viewers. And if at least one hundredth of them finds my song to their liking, it is sure to be a big hit”, the contestant believes. Fabricio has not met Polina Smolova yet, but when she comes to Malta, they are sure to meet and the Eurovision team will give her a warm welcome”.
Contestants from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland and Baltic States will visit Belarus soon with their promo tours.
In the meantime, Polina Smolova has scheduled a concert in Minsk for 16 April. She is going to the Baltic Region around the 20th of April. Polina launched her CIS and Europe promo tour on 11 March visiting Kiev first. She plans to visit about 15 countries.
