Belarus’ representative at Eurovision 2016 to be determined by national vote
The official representative of Belarus for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will be determined by audience voting during the broadcast of the national selection final.
The change to the Regulations on holding the national qualifying round for the International Eurovision Song Contest 2016 has been approved by members of the permanent Eurovision Organising Committee, chaired by Belarus’ Culture Minister Boris Svetlov, at today’s meeting held at Belteleradiocompany.
Talking about the features of this year’s national qualifying round, including those of the voting process, head of the Eurovision project in Belarus Olga Schlyager said that “audience vote is the most transparent form of choosing the best Eurovision contestant”.
Thus, Belarus’ representative for Eurovision 2016 will be chosen by the viewers through telephone and SMS voting during the broadcast of the national selection final.
Finalists, in turn, will be determined by a professional jury while auditioning the contestants.
The Regulations on holding the national qualifying round for Eurovision 2016, approved by the Organising Committee, will be posted on Belteleradiocompany’s official website www.tvr.by on 23 October - this date is considered the starting point for receiving applications for participation in the selection.
The national qualifying round for the International Eurovision Song Contest 2016 is organised by Belteleradiocompany as the only member of the European Broadcasting Union in Belarus.
