5-th All-Belarusian People's Assembly opens today
Today, the 5-th All-Belarusian People's Assembly opens at the Palace of the Republic in Minsk. The delegates will discuss the country's progress and the new draft program for social and economic development over the next 5 years. The main goal is to increase the quality of population's life. The state priorities are: investments, employment, export, information technologies and youth policy. 2,5 thousand people from all across Belarus will be taking part in the forum, representatives of the government, foreign guests from 55 countries. President Alexander Lukashenko will address the delegates of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly with a report. The opening ceremony and the Head of the state's address will be broadcasted live over national TV and radio channels, including Belarus 24.
Today is 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War (WW II)
The All-Belarusian People's Assembly is held on the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War (WW II in the territory of the former Soviet states). 75 years ago, the whole of the big country got together to rebut fascism. The first blow came to Brest Fortress. Today, at 3.00 am the memorial hosted a requiem meeting “The Candle of Memory”, as well as reconstruction of the defense battle. The event was joined by about 5 thousand people from different countries.
Border guards honored the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk
The memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War was commemorated today in Minsk. At 4 o'clock, flowers and wreaths were laid to the Monument of Victory. An honorary guard was placed near the Eternal Fire. War veterans, soldiers and students had a moment of silence. Today, candles and flowers are brought to memorials in all military units of Belarus.
