Early voting for Belarus Parliamentary Elections begins tomorrow

Parliamentary elections race in Belarus enters the final stage. Elections will be held this Sunday, but early voting begins tomorrow. Competition for a deputy's portfolio is rather tough. The observers note that the current campaign is more active than the previous one, and that the number of complaints has decreased. More than 800 international observers will monitor the upcoming elections. They represent OSCE, ODIHR, CIS, the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe and the OSCE, as well as diplomatic corps. The number of national observers is about 25.5 thousand people.

Polotsk will be the capital of the upcoming Written Language Day in Belarus

Polotsk was elected as the capital of the upcoming Written Language Day in Belarus. 2017 will be a landmark year for the country – it will mark the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing. Rogachev hosted the literature festival this weekend. Here were named the winners of the second National Literature Award. Members of the jury awarded 7 authors. In addition, there became known the winners of the "Golden Pen of Belarus" contest, which is carried out among young journalists.

Minsk celebrated its 949th birthday

Minsk celebrated its 949th birthday. The festivities were held in all districts of the city, but the audience seemed to like the program "Chivalry throughout the time" the most. This unordinary event has shown 10 centuries of Belarusian history in simple terms. The guests got acquainted with medieval dances, fencing and archery. Children could join Robin Hood’s merry men and take part in archery contest. Adults staged foam sword fights.
