Senators elected the new leadership of the upper chamber today.
Anatoly Rubinov (ex vice-speaker of the Council of the Republic) became the chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly during secret ballot, and the ex-governor of Minsk area Leonid Krupets became the vice-chairperson. The previous speaker of the Council of the Republic Boris Batura was appointed by the President to the post of the chairperson of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee the day before. Anatoly Rubinov, accepting speaker powers of the speaker, underlined that most of the focus would be on work with local Councils.
