International cooperation was discussed from the UN podium. Chernobyl became one of the themes discussed in New York. Belarus proposed to proclaim April, 26, the International Day of Remembrance of the disaster. The night before head of the Irish charity Chernobyl Children International Adi Roche voiced the initiative of our country to the UN General Assembly. This statement to the United Nations has become historic. This is the first time in history of the UN when a member of an organization is allowed to act on behalf of another State. As noted in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, it drew attention to the important component of the international Chernobyl cooperation which is practical work of humanitarian organizations.
