Belarus successfully combating HIV

14 апреля 2017

Belarus’ significant success in fighting HIV was pointed out at a meeting between President Alexander Lukashenko with UN Under-Secretary-General and UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe.

The joint program was established in 1994. This is the first high-level visit of the kind in the history of Belarus' interaction with UNAIDS. The cooperation with the international organization has helped Belarusian healthcare to reach serious progress in the treatment and prevention of the dangerous disease.

According to international experts, Belarus may become the first country in Eastern Europe and Central Asia to achieve UN targets in reducing new HIV cases.
