Belarusian people appreciate peace and tranquility in the country, said President Alexander Lukashenko today while honoring the graduates of military high schools and senior officers.

The ceremony was traditionally timed to the Independence Day.

Belarus pursues a peaceful policy of defending its national interests. This is stated in the recently updated military doctrine. Changes to this important document have been made for the first time in 14 years. This is the demand of time. The world around us is constantly transformed, new threats and risks arise. Therefore, the methods for protection of our interests must always be relevant.

Fifteen best graduates of military schools were today encouraged at the highest level. The President praised them for excellent academic achievements and exemplary fulfillment of military duty. One of the main tasks of these professionals is the development of new technology.

The multiple launch rocket system "Polonaise" can significantly strengthen the might of our army. The complex is superior to foreign competitors in range fire. The affected area is up to two hundred kilometers. The system is currently being tested and will soon enter service with the Belarusian army.

The "Polonaise" will serve for the missile troops and artillery, commanded by Gennady Kozlovsky. The officer received today the rank of general.

In peacetime, the protection of the country's economic interests comes to the forefront. Today the rank of general was also given to the first deputy chairman of the Customs Committee.
