Trade union organisations should be established in all labour collectives by mid-next year, as stated today by President Alexander Lukashenko at the 7th Congress of the Federation of Trade Unions. Addressing the participants, the President stressed that trade unions should take an active part in solving problems of national importance.
The event has brought together over 500 delegates, including leaders of professional organisations at all levels, as well as their foreign counterparts. The main discussion topic is the organisation’s roadmap for the next five years. Today, the participants have been focusing on the issue of establishing new professional organizations in the private sector.
The current Congress is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the trade union movement in Belarus The Federation of Trade Unions currently brings together more than 4 million Belarusians, or 96.5% of the economically active population.
