Belarusian President meets with Serbian Prime Minister on Friday

29 января 2017

Friday’s meeting between the Belarusian President and Serbian Prime Minister was held in a friendly atmosphere. Prior to discussing plans to boost mutual trade, the politicians confirmed the inviolability of brotherhood between the two countries.

The main growth drivers – economy, technologies and investments – have been outlined by the two Governments for at least five years to come. The ministers were instructed to come up with future joint projects three years ago: in the spring of 2013, when the Serbian President visited Minsk, and in the summer of the 2014 during the Belarusian leader’s visit to Belgrade. Those visits spurred business and cooperation development. As a result, the volume of mutual trade reached a record high of a quarter billion dollars in 2015, but objectively dropped last year.

Hence, the agreements reached at the Government level are of complex nature, the key spheres being mechanical engineering, tourism, the pharmaceutical industry, the military-industrial sector, real estate, banking and regional partnership. In case the roadmap is implemented, the trade turnover will not only recover, but grow up to 500 million dollars.

The official opening of Dana Mall, a business, shopping and entertainment complex with Serbian investments, proves that everything is possible. Another joint project, the residential complex Minsk-World, is a mutual contribution to future development.
