Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov has been elected a delegate for the forthcoming Fifth All-Belarusian People’s Assembly today.

Fifth All-Belarusian People’s participants will consider a draft of the country’s socio-economic development for the next five years. According to the Prime Minister, the main provisions of the programme are currently being finalised. The emphasis of the document is placed not only on quantitative but on qualitative economic growth, which includes exports, attracting investments and creating new jobs.

Andrei Kobyakov, Belarus’ Prime Minister: “We will try to diversify our export markets by 2020 so that one third accounts for the Eurasian Economic Union, one third – for the European Union and another third for the so called “far arc countries”, i.e. countries which should also have a very high share in our foreign trade. About a hundred major investment projects will be implemented in the country in the next five years. We need to attract about 30 billion dollars, about 16 billion of which are expected to be foreign direct investments.”

Andrei Kobyakov will represent the Moskovsky district of the Belarusian capital at the Fifth All-Belarusian People’s Assembly.

A total of 2,500 Belarusians will take part in the meeting.
