IAEA Director General arrives in Belarus

During his three-day working visit Yukiya Amano will meet with the Foreign Minister of the country Vladimir Makei, as well as representatives of the government of Belarus. Also, the IAEA director general will take part in the opening ceremony of the International Exhibition and Conference "ATOMEXPO", visit the site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction and the Republican control center of emergency response.

"Political contacts between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the IAEA leadership is carried out at a consistently high level. Over the past 4 years Belarus was visited by the Director General Yukiya Amano (2012), and his two deputies: Alexander Bychkov (2012) and Flora Dennis (2014) The priorities of cooperation with the Agency include the development of national nuclear power infrastructure, including the strengthening of the human resources potential of the industry and the regulatory body, as well as health care, rehabilitation of the regions affected by the Chernobyl accident."
