Belarus is interested in a more active dialogue with the regional authorities of the EU countries and the Eastern Partnership. This was stated today in Minsk at a meeting with representatives of the EU Committee of Regions. Belarus became a venue for such negotiations. The main goal of the association is to develop EU integration ties with the former Soviet republics, including our country. In the future, the partners plan to focus their attention on economic cooperation at the regional level.

Markku Markkula, President of the European Committee of the Regions: "We can increase our economic interaction, and regional authorities should play a significant role in this process, but for this we need to build a serious basis for the development of such cooperation. The European Investment Bank will provide about EUR 200 million to support small and medium-sized enterprises in your region."

Also Markku Markkula has met today with the speaker of the upper house of the Belarusian parliament, Mikhail Myasnikovich.
