By Marina Romanovskaya: The Union State’s armored vehicle race Road of Courage was launched at Moscow’s Poklonnaya Hill on June 17. Its participants have already traveled through Odintsovo, Golitsyno, Mozhaisk, Vyazma, and Smolensk and are being welcomed today in Belarus’ Orsha. A solemn rally at the Mound of Immortality featured Great Patriotic War veterans, schoolchildren and local authorities.

The column comprised of about 20 heavy equipment units, including BTR-40, BTR-152 and a combat patrol vehicle, will cover a total of over 2,000 km. The Road of Courage is expected to enter the Russian Book of Records as the longest forced march on armored vehicles.

The route of the armored vehicle race runs through a number of Belarusian cities, including Minsk. The campaign will culminate in commemorative events in Brest on June 22.
