71st Session of UN General Assembly continues in New York

The 71st Session of the UN General Assembly continues in New York, featuring representatives from 193 countries, Belarus represented by Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei.

Belarus’ contribution to the United Nations Organisation’s activities has been praised by the UN General Assembly Chairman. Meeting with Vladimir Makei, Peter Thomson pointed out the high principles consistently advocated by Minsk in the organisation.

Vladimir Makei also met with his Oman counterpart in New York. The ministers expressed interest in the further strengthening of bilateral relations and discussed exchanging high-level visits.

During talks with Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics, the parties stressed a positive trend in bilateral relations development, paying special attention to the development of EU – Belarus dialogue. Other discussion subjects were the situation in the European Union after the UK’s decision to leave it and the prospects of resolving the situation in southeastern Ukraine.
