Minsk hosted a large international conference of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) this week. For three days more than 100 experts from 10 countries were discussing the future of the peaceful atom and, first and foremost, nuclear power plant safety. It was announced at the conference that stress tests had already been completed at the Belarusian NPP and Belarus was preparing a national report to be submitted the EU Energy Commission.

It should be pointed out that Belarus has no obligations towards the EU and submitting the report is the country’s own initiative to once again emphasize the openness of the nuclear project and readiness for dialogue.

In his interview to Main Air, WANO Moscow Center Director Vasily Aksenov spoke about that openness, as well as about personnel and the neighboring Lithuania’s claims.
