Belarus and China expand cooperation in education

Eight interuniversity agreements have been signed today in Minsk by Belarusian and Chinese university rectors as part of a visit of a Chinese delegation headed by Education Minister Chen Baosheng to Minsk.

As a result, a Chinese language and culture department will be established at Minsk Linguistic University, a joint science and technology program will be created at the Belarusian National Technical University and a joint master's program will be opened at the Belarusian State University’s Journalism Institute. Besides, a research center will be launched at the Philosophy Institute of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences.

During the meeting, Belarus’ Education Minister pointed out Belarusian schoolchildren’s significant interest in learning Chinese. The number of schools teaching the language will be growing annually.

This is the first visit of China’s Education Minister to Belarus over the 25 years of diplomatic relations between the countries.

Belarusian and Chinese education certificates and scholarship degrees are equally recognized in the two countries. Student and teacher exchanges and joint scientific conferences are taking place on a regular basis.
