Belarus’ National Art Museum hosts opening of Belarusian sacred art exhibition

29 сентября 2016

The opening of Belarus’ sacred art exhibition hosted by the National Art Museum stressed the country’s tolerance towards different faiths. The exhibition features icons, altarpieces, artistic weaving and liturgy articles, the most ancient artifact aged over five centuries.

A major part of the collection was exhibited in Vatican in May, attended by about 30,000 people daily. The current exhibition has been replenished with unrestored icons and large pieces that were impossible to be exhibited abroad due to their size.

The celebration of sacred art has been joined by the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation – Belposhta designers have created a souvenir sheet depicting icons venerated by Orthodox and Catholics.
