By Olga Medved: To mark the135th birth anniversary of People's Poet of Belarus Yakub Kolas, an underground cellar has been added to the Yakub Kolas Museum located in the poet’s house. Kolas used the cellar for keeping pickles, fruit, vegetable and other foods that had to be preserved throughout the year as the temperature there was low.

The underground building also features the only frost chamber preserved in the Belarusian capital since war times. Located two metres deeper than the cellar, it was used mainly for preserving meat and milk.

The Yakub Kolas Museum is currently hosting a temporary exhibition titled Yakub Kolas: Familiar and Unknown, featuring photographs and personal belongings of the writer representing him as a host.
