Plaque to National Writer of Belarus Ivan Shamyakin unveiled in village of Korma

A plaque in honour of National Writer of Belarus Ivan Shamyakin has been unveiled in his motherland, the village of Korma in the Dobrush district. The plaque marking the 95th anniversary of the famous countryman was installed on the building of Korma’s village library named after Ivan Shamyakin. Participants of the ceremony laid flowers at the bust of the writer, visited the library and the local House of Culture.

Dobrush has hosted a series of events in honour of Ivan Shamyakin’s 95th anniversary, including a commemoration gathering, as well as an exhibition of paintings from Belarus’ National Art Museum featuring works by the Belarusian classic’s nephew Mikhail Kalinin.
