Minsk metro listens to classical music of Belarusian authors

1 июня 2017

The first work heard by subway passengers was The Northern Star Polonaise by Napoleon Orda. The musical excerpts are accompanied by a clip and information about the author. It was Minsk students who came up with the idea of playing classical Belarusian music in Minsk metro. They presented their idea at the contest of social projects and received support.

Gleb Vaikul and Darya Baranovskaya, the organizers of The Sound of the Metro: Listen to Your Music project: "We have already listened to classical music for a long time, and through world classics, we got to know the Belarusian music. And after a while we were together in Stockholm, we heard classical music at a station, and it was very impressive, and we decided that we should definitely do this project."

Now, the project organizers are working on new clips. Soon, Minsk metro will hear the works of Aginsky, Moniuszka, Glebov, and other Belarusian composers.
