Monday marked by personnel decisions made by President

The President’s working week began with a meeting with Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Shunevich, dedicated primarily to the upcoming 5th All-Belarusian People's Assembly, in particular, to the preparations of the internal affairs agencies to ensuring law and order during the large-scale event – the Assembly is expected to be attended by 2,500 people. As reported by Igor Shunevich, all the units are ready to perform the tasks. The police will take the delegates’ place of stay and transportation means under their protection. The Interior Minister also updated the President about the preparations for and celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian police next year. At the same time, Igor Shunevich is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Dinamo Minsk hockey club. The President was informed about the staffing of the club’s team prior to the new KHL season.

Another meeting in the President's work schedule was with the Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee. Semyon Shapiro reported to Alexander Lukashenko about the central region’s development prospects. The President pointed out the region’s achievements - over the past five years the Minsk region has become the winner among all the regions in terms of socio-economic development. At the same time, the Belarusian leader stressed that the region’s problem issues had to be urgently addressed and placed emphasis on the development of the social sphere and infrastructure, cleanup works around the capital and the problem of vacant territories.

Monday was marked by a number of personnel decisions made by the President. Thus, new leaders have been appointed in seven regions of the country and there have also been new assignments in the ministerial corps and the personnel register of the Foreign Ministry. Alexander Lukashenko expects the new regional leaders to put forward fundamentally different approaches to successfully overcoming the current challenges. The emphasis is on the economy and on exports in particular in the work of the new diplomats abroad - in Brazil, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Germany, Iran, Slovakia, Uganda, Ukraine and Vietnam.
