This week marked by visits paid to Minsk by high-ranking officials

This week has seen a number of visits paid to Minsk by high-ranking officials. The vast political geography demonstrates Belarus’ multivector nature.

In July, Minsk will host a summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Preparations for this landmark event were discussed on Thursday by OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Christine Muttonen and the Belarusian leader.

A delegation from Astana is likely to become an active participant in the summit. Chairman of the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan’s Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin has visited Belarus this week to discuss political and economic relations with the President.

On Wednesday, the President met with First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Philip Bennett. The EBRD plans to increase its investment presence in Belarus’ transport sector and the sphere of housing and utilities services.

Alexander Lukashenko’s meeting with Head of the IMF mission to Belarus Peter Dolman took place in the Independence Palace on Thursday. Belarus is interested in cooperating with the IMF provided that its national interests are met.

Full-scale cooperation with Egypt was the main topic of the President's talks with Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production. This was the second governmental delegation from Egypt since Alexander Lukashenko's January visit to Cairo.

Also this week, the President received the Governor of Russia’s Stavropol region. Belarus and the Russian region have a lot of common interest areas ranging from construction to science.
