"TV-First" and "Belarus-TV" to show all the concerts of Eurovision-2008
The First Channel and TV-channel "Belarus-TV" will show both semi-finals and a final of the International song contest "Eurovision-2008". The broadcasts from Belgrade will be held on May 20, 22 and 24 at 22.00 LT. The winner of Eurovision-2008 will be selected by interactive vote of TV viewers from 43 states. Belarus will be represented at the contest by Ruslan Alekhno.
For the first time the new rules of Eurovision contest will be tried with two semi-finals and final. The Belarusian representative Ruslan Alekhno will sing #9 in the second semi-final on May 22.
19 states will participate in each semi-final. The TV companies of these states are obliged to broadcast a semi-final, in which they take part and a final. They are also entitled to showing another semi-final live or as deferred relay.
Taking this privilege, Belteleradiocompany gives the audience of "TV-First" and "Belarus-TV" a chance to see the live broadcast of both semi-finals and a final.
The Belarusian audience can also vote for the participants of the second semi-final, in which Ruslan Alekhno will perform, and the final. But they will be able only to observe the vote of the first semi-final.
10 participants from each qualification round will get into the final. 9 singers will be named by TV viewers and the 10th by a reserve jury. The final will see the representatives of 25 states: 20 best semi-final performers, the countries of the "Big4" (the UK, France, Spain, Germany) and Serbia as a winner of the previous contest and a host of the present one. Germany and Spain will be voting in the first semi-final (May 20), France, the UK and Serbia in the second one (May 22).
The contest will be commented by a special correspondent of TV Infoservice Denis Kurian.
Watch special editions of the talk-show "Return Move" timed to Eurovision on May 22 and May 24. Ruslan Alekhno's friends and colleagues will meet in Minsk at Belteleradiocompany's studio to support him and discuss the events of the show and the results of the vote. The studio will keep a live connection with Denis Kurian in Belgrade.
Rules of the Vote
The Belarusians can vote in the second semi-final (May 22) and the final (May 24). After the show numbers for a telephone vote will appear on the screen. According to the rules of the contest, the Belarusians are entitled to voting for any participant but their own. As usual the Eurovision vote will be provided by "Digame.de" platform. The points of Belarus will be announced by a singer and a hostess of the program "Time of Sport" Olga Barabanshchikova.
In order to vote 8 810 101 03 ÕÕ (ÕÕ - number of the performer). The cost of the call is 1,000 Belarusian rubles (without VAT). SMS-vote (available for subscribers of all mobile operators) can be done by sending the number of the chosen performer (01, 02, 12) to the number 7708. The cost of the message is 1,300 Belarusian rubles (with VAT).
A reserve jury, organized in every state for the case of possible breakdowns in the telephone vote, will give its points alongside viewers. Besides, in the semi-final the jury will vote for the 10th participant, not selected by TV-viewers. According to the regulations of the European Broadcasting Union, the composition of the jury in our country is selected by Belteleradiocompany. The information about their members is confidential. The jury cannot vote for their candidate and abstain from the vote.
