On February, 5, 2016 the media holding received a letter from the head office of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) with the message that BTRC was admitted to the Union as an Associate by a majority vote of the Regular Members.

On February, 5, 2016 the media holding received a letter from the head office of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) with the message that BTRC was admitted to the Union as an Associate by a majority vote of the Regular Members.

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union was founded in 1964 as a nonprofit, non-governmental professional organization. The head office of the Union is located in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

Currently, ABU is one of the largest platforms for the promotion of the interests of broadcasters at the regional and international levels. The Union includes 280 broadcasters from 68 countries and regions - from Turkey and Samoa to Russia and New Zealand - including large companies such as the Radio and Television of China (RTPRC), Broadcasting Corporation of Japan (NHK), Indian Broadcasting Company Prasar Bharati, Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Associate members of ABU are such giants of the media market as the National Broadcasting Company of Germany (Deutsche Welle), the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), French TV (France Télévisions), National Association of Broadcasters of America and others. Total coverage of the audience of broadcasters-members of the Union is about 3 billion people around the world. Membership in the ABU offers the prospect of dialogue and exchange of experience with major players in the broadcasting sphere, acquisition of foreign content and broadcasting one’s own content around the globe.

ABU works closely with regional broadcasting unions in different parts of the world and cooperates with international organizations to exchange information on the latest developments in broadcasting, conducts training activities and facilitates harmonization of broadcast solutions and standards.
