Belarus to host over a thousand events to celebrate Victory Day

Official celebrations of Victory Day start in Belarus. The Palace of the Republic in Minsk will host a solemn meeting and a concert. In total, over a thousand events will take place. The central of them, Belarus Remembers patriotic action and a remembrance march, will take place on May 9 in Pobedy Square in Minsk.

13 thousand veterans live in Belarus today, including 9 thousand disabled persons and WWII participants. Taking care of them is one of the country's social policy priorities.

Minsk hosts International Congress on Belarusian culture

Ways to guard the uniqueness of Belarusian culture in a globalized world have been discussed at the International Scientific Congress, organized as part of the Year of Culture. Over 300 researchers from a number of countries arrived in Minsk. Music, painting, and even language today lose their individuality. That is why the issues of safeguarding their originality is high on the agenda, as well as matters of development and interaction.

Preserving the authenticity of national cultures is a global challenge. That is why experts believe that it should be addressed through joint efforts. One of the points on the agenda is development of Belarusian language in the bilingual situation.

Belarus to face Finland first at 2016 IIHF World Championship

Team Belarus will hold its first game of the ice hockey World Championship against Finland. So far Belarus is 1 to 5 behind in previous game statistics. The match starts at 20:10 Minsk time.

Team Belarus arrived in St. Petersburg the day before and held a training session at Yubileiny ice arena. The line up includes 25 players, with most of them coming from HC Dinamo Minsk.
