Belarus among world leaders in development of information and communication technologies

Belarus is among the world leaders in the development of information and communication technologies. This was stated by the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union at the meeting with Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko. In recent years, the country has implemented a number of major projects: the level of Internet penetration increased to 70%, a new 4G mobile standard was launched, as well as ip-TV service and Belarus’ own communication satellite. Over the past 5 years Belarus climbed 14 positions in the Telecommunication Union ranking. According to the index of telecommunications development in the past year, our country occupied the 36th place in the world and first in the CIS. According to experts, the secret of success lies in the personal patronage of the President in this sphere, as well as in the stability and availability of necessary conditions for investment in the telecommunications market.
