Belarusian President to partake in Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has arrived in Uzbekistan to take part in the session of the Council of Heads of the States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The summit will be the first one in which Belarus will take part in as an observer.

The regular session of the SCO Council of Heads of the States is expected to sign 11 documents, including the antidrug strategy and agreement on crime prevention.

While staying in Tashkent the Belarusian President is also expected to talk to foreign leaders during bilateral meetings. In particular, Alexander Lukashenko has already met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The head of the state assured that China and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization can count on the support of Belarus in all matters.

Belarus defines guidelines for next five years

The 5th Belarusian People’s Congress completed its work in Minsk. It comprised 150 proposals, a few hundred hotline phone calls, discussions, and exchange of experience. As a result of the big forum, the program on Belarus’ social and economic development until 2020 has been adopted. Some 2,500 delegates of the Belarusian People’s Congress have approved a draft resolution. The document will become the foundation for new Belarusian economy. Improving the quality of life of people is the main objective.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko delivered the concluding speech. According to the head of the state such forums are examples of true democracy.

Moscow hosts European Rowing, Canoeing, and Para-canoeing Championships

Russia is hosting the European rowing, canoeing and para-canoeing Championships. The Belarusian team is represented by 23 men, including 2 Paralympic athletes, and 10 women. All in all, more than 700 sportsmen from 37 countries are partaking. The competitions will be held in 12 Olympic and 15 non-Olympic programs.
